Powering the success of women in accounting.
Established in 1994, the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya is a non-political, not-for-profit professional organisation that empowers its members with relevant knowledge, resources and networks.
Working with ICPAK and KASNEB, AWAK pioneered the annual PFM Conference as a platform for accountants and public-sector leaders to deliberate on emerging issues in Public Finance Management.

FCPA Nancy Gathungu, CBS, serves as Kenya's Auditor-General, a position she took up on 17 July 2020. Her professional experience encompasses public-sector audit, strategic management and strengthening the capacity of Supreme Audit Institutions.
She holds an MBA specialising in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. She is an ICPAK Fellow, holds the Certified Information Systems Auditor qualification and belongs to the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya.

Prof. Nicholas K. Letting’, PhD, EBS, HSC
Secretary / CEO · KASNEB
Prof. Nicholas K. Letting’ is an accountant, investment management expert, trustee and corporate governance and strategic management leader with over 27 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He serves as Secretary/CEO of the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB), where he has led major syllabus reviews to align Kenya’s accountancy professional qualifications globally.
He is Chairman of the Association of Professional Societies of East Africa (APSEA) and serves voluntarily as Honorary National Treasurer of the Kenya Red Cross Society. He has held senior leadership roles at the Management University of Africa, the Kenya Institute of Management and British American Tobacco Kenya, including serving as Vice-Chancellor of the Management University of Africa.
He holds BCom, MBA and PhD qualifications from the University of Nairobi, and CPA, CPS and CIFA qualifications from KASNEB. He is a Fellow of ICPAK, ICIFA, ICPSK and KIM, and an Adjunct Associate Professor at KCA University and Strathmore University, mentoring PhD and MBA students.
His contributions to accountancy development, investment management, corporate governance, public procurement, project management and capacity building have earned him the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) and Head of State Commendation (HSC) honours. He also serves on the boards or councils of ICPAK, ICIFA and ICPSK.

Deputy Data Commissioner, Compliance · Office of the Data Protection Commissioner
Rebecca Mayeku is the Deputy Data Commissioner, Compliance, at the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), Kenya. She is a PECB Certified Data Protection Officer and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with over 10 years of experience in legal practice and public service. Prior to joining the ODPC, she served for over eight years as a State Counsel at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. In her current role, Rebecca leads efforts to strengthen data protection compliance, accountability, and responsible processing of personal data in Kenya. Her responsibilities include overseeing audits and inspections, reviewing reported data breaches and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and supporting the development and issuance of guidance notes and regulatory advisories.

Christine Ombaka, FCCA, CFE
Public Sector Investigation, Risk and Governance Specialist · Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
Christine Ombaka is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a public sector investigation, risk and governance specialist with over 12 years’ experience in forensic investigations, financial analysis, fraud risk management, asset tracing, anti-corruption and governance.
She currently serves in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), where she has undertaken complex financial investigations and contributed to strengthening financial intelligence, risk management and integrity systems in the public sector. She has also worked in forensic and risk advisory in the private sector.
Christine is a member of the ACCA Kenya Advisory Committee and has been actively involved in professional advocacy, ethics and public-sector initiatives. Her contribution to public-sector ethics and advocacy was recognized through the 2026 ACCA Eastern Africa Cluster Public Sector Award and the 2026 ACCA Global Public Sector Award.
She is passionate about strengthening public finance systems through ethical leadership, robust controls, financial intelligence and effective risk management, and advancing the role of finance professionals in safeguarding public resources.

Partner, Assurance and East Africa Sustainability Leader · Deloitte East Africa
Steve is a Partner in Deloitte’s Assurance Services in East Africa. Based in Nairobi, he leads the region’s sustainability practice. In this role, he helps organisations integrate sustainability into their business models and strategy and communicate their progress through reporting.
He has more than 20 years of professional experience spanning audit, risk management, governance and sustainability, bringing this background to his work with clients.
His client experience covers multiple industries in East Africa and Europe, reflecting the international scope of his career.
Steve holds an MBA from Strathmore Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). His professional memberships include ISACA, ICPAK and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

Patricia is an accomplished Audit Partner at Deloitte East Africa, based in Nairobi, Kenya, and serves as the firm's Government and Public Sector Leader and Lead Client Service Partner (LCSP) for Deloitte's United Nations portfolio. With more than 23 years of experience in audit and assurance, she has built extensive expertise in auditing governments, public sector entities, donor-funded programmes, and international organizations across the region.
She specializes in providing assurance and advisory services on complex financial reporting and accounting matters, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), IFRS for Small and Medium-sized Entities (SMEs), International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), and donor compliance requirements.
Her professional experience spans several countries across East and the Horn of Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Somalia, giving her a deep understanding of regional governance, accountability, and public financial management challenges.
Patricia is passionate about advancing Public Finance Management (PFM) beyond compliance. She advocates for the strategic use of digital innovation to strengthen governance, enhance transparency, improve risk management, and build resilient financial systems. Through her work, she supports organizations in leveraging technology to reinforce internal controls, improve accountability, and enable more informed and strategic decision-making.
Patricia holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting from the University of London. She is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K), a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), and a member of both the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Executive Leadership Coach
Anne Ngethe, PCC, is an executive leadership coach whose professional background spans entrepreneurship, business development, leadership training and organisational performance. As co-founder and Managing Director of Training Solutions Ltd, she spent 22 years supporting leadership development, performance management and team learning across private businesses, public institutions and non-governmental organisations in East Africa.
Her qualifications include Sherpa coaching certification, a diploma from the Academy of Executive Coaches, an MBA in Human Resource Development from Moi University and a BSc in International Business Administration from USIU. She brings practical experience of building a business and leading teams to her coaching work.

Stanley Kamanguya, OGW
Digital Transformation Advisor
Stanley Kamanguya is a Digital Transformation Advisor and former CEO of Kenya’s ICT Authority, with deep experience in digital infrastructure, public sector innovation, and technology policy. He works with public and private-sector leaders to advance responsible AI adoption, digital transformation, and inclusive governance, helping organizations translate technology into measurable human impact.
During his tenure as CEO of the ICT Authority, he played a key role in advancing Kenya’s national digital transformation agenda through innovation, digital infrastructure expansion, and public sector digitization. Earlier, he led the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) at the National Treasury, strengthening public finance systems across national and county governments. He also served as Technology Advisory Manager at PwC Kenya, where he supported digital transformation initiatives across organizations.
Stanley holds an MBA in Finance from USIU-Africa and a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Maseno University. He is also certified as an AI+ Executive and Project Management Professional (PMP). Today, he brings together AI advisory, digital strategy, and governance to help institutions adopt technology responsibly, inclusively and at scale. He is passionate about youth empowerment and mentorship.

Caren Wakoli is a leadership practitioner dedicated to shaping a new generation of values-driven African leaders who lead from within. For over two decades, she has mentored emerging leaders and changemakers through training, mentorship, storytelling, and the inner work of leadership. She equips individuals to lead with courage, integrity, purpose, and a deep commitment to human dignity.
She is the Founder and Executive Director of Emerging Leaders Foundation–Africa, a non-profit organization that equips ethical, courageous, and impact-driven young leaders across Africa. Her leadership and contribution have been recognized through prestigious fellowships, including the Obama Africa Leaders program, the Eisenhower Global Women Leaders Fellowship, Acumen, and Stanford University’s Fisher Family Fellowship on Democracy, Good Governance and the Rule of Law.
In 2018, President Barack Obama recognized her at the Nelson Mandela Centenary Celebration in South Africa for her work in ending poverty and advancing human dignity. She has also been named among Avance Media’s Top 100 Most Influential Young Africans and Top 100 Most Influential African Women.
She is also a writer, speaker, facilitator, and leadership coach. At the heart of Caren’s work is the conviction that leadership is not about power, but service, love, wholeness, and societal transformation.

Is virtual attendance available?

Will I receive an invoice?
Yes. An invoice and tracking number are generated immediately after registration.
Is the conference open to men?
Yes. The conference is open to both women and men.
What are the current registration rates?
Standard Rate is KES 65,000 per delegate for in-person attendance. Virtual Attendance is KES 25,000 per delegate. Early-bird booking has closed. The total is the selected rate multiplied by the number of delegates.
How do I recover my invoice or tracking details?

When will I receive my receipt and event credential?
Your invoice is generated after registration. Submitted M-Pesa or cheque details remain unverified until AWAK confirms payment. A receipt follows payment verification, and every approved, paid delegate receives an individual event credential.
