FCS CPA FA Jona Wala has been the Register of the Registration of Certified Public Secretaries Board of Kenya for the last nine years.
FCS CPA FA Jona Wala also serves as a Board member for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, Chuka University, and is co-opted to the Finance Committee of the National Council for Law Reporting (Kenya Law Reports), and the Audit Committee of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts Kenya (ICIFA).
FCS CPA FA Jona Wala chaired a multi-agency team that delivered Kenya’s roadmap – Adoption of Sustainability Standards (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2). He is a member of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) representing the Africa region, where he is also a member of the task force reviewing IPSAS 1- Presentation of Financial Statements.
He convenes the Technical Committee of the African Association of Accountant Generals. He is a member of the Africa Professionalization Initiative Academic Advisory Committee, an online platform for competency development for accountants in the public sector.
FCS CPA Wala is the Director of Accounting and Exchequer Services at the National Treasury. He has been at the forefront of championing public sector reforms for the last 25 years, including the implementation of a Treasury Single Account and the establishment of various public funds. He has been instrumental in designing alternative funding models for government projects.
FCS CPA Wala is a member of the National Steering Committee gazetted to transition the country from a cash basis of accounting to an accrual basis.
He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Management from Case Western Reserve University, USA, and holds a master’s degree in Banking and Finance.
